COVID 19 - What I Would Do If I Owned A Brewery
The craft brewery scene in Calgary has been popping! My previous job in the restaurant industry helped me stay in the loop and watch the growth first hand. It feels like it exploded overnight and hasn’t slowed down. I can’t tell you how many are around town but it’s been fun checking them out.
COVID 19 has forced these businesses to adjust how they operate. It may not be possible to generate the same sales, but if they want to keep the lights on and fight, I have a few ideas.
Below is what I would do if I owned a brewery:
1) Launch “Pint With The Brewmaster” show.
2) Rollout an eComm site to handle online sales.
3) Call every single person who orders beer & thank them.
4) Limited edition eComm SWAG products (t-shirts, hoodies, socks, hats, etc.).
5) Launch a delivery option.
6) Remarking ad campaign based on web traffic, email database and social interaction.
7) Capture every delivery moment and share the stories.
8) Tasting show for my beers and potential big box competitors.
9) Behind the scenes content.
10) Document the brewing process (time lapse, Instagram stories, long form blog, etc.).
11) Instagram live with a customer.
12) Research local influencers for future and present opportunities.
13) Ask the audience questions. Ie: polls and a weekly question day.
14) Inspiration posts. Ie: music, art, lifestyle.
15) Daily themed content.
16) Team member showcases.
17) Review food pairing suggestions.
18) Launch collab projects with local vendors. Ie: hummus, pita and beer…part of the at home survival kit.
19) Search hashtags and join conversations.
20) Look for random acts of kindness opportunities.
I would put all my energy into trying to generate sales and building brand. Customers need to connect with your story on a deeper level. Humans connect with humans!
