COVID 19 - What I Would Do If I Owned A Hockey Academy

Hockey businesses are hurting right now. The sport has been a huge part of my life for over 38 years and I wanted to provide some value.

I’ve met some amazing friends and learned countless life lessons that transfer into the business world because of the sport. When you’re playing you don’t realize how many skills you’re learning besides taking slappers, elbows up and mastering the sauce. Self-awareness, confidence, hierarchy structures and how to operate in a group environment are all skills I picked up over the years.

Below are a few ideas I’ve been thinking about:

1) Allow customers to learn about me on a deeper level by posting content outside of the hockey bucket.

2) Launch “The Daily” where I do video chats with all my customers.

3) Post about training tips, diet, home drill hacks, new equipment, etc.

4) Follow all my client's social media accounts and interact with what they’re talking about.

5) Keep focused on building deeper relationships with the clients I have.

6) Search for hashtags and join conversations with like-minded individuals.

7) Create thought leadership content that could live on existing or new platforms.

8) Launch a Tik Tok account.

9) Send out an eNewsletter asking customers how I can help.

10) Creating weekly skills competitions that will leverage social sharing.

11) Look at trimming or pausing all ad spends.

12) Go live on most platforms once a day providing insight and inspiration.

13) Break down NHL clips highlighting specific skills.

14) Weekly player highlights.

15) Weekly #TBT posts.
