COVID 19 - What I Would Do If I Owned A Flour Company

COVID 19 has been extremely disruptive for many businesses in Calgary and around the world. Over the past 4 weeks, I’ve focused on industries that are struggling during these times. I wanted to flip the idea around and focus on businesses that are thriving right now. I wouldn’t be a used car salesman and push product. I would go deep on brand with social media posts.

Below is a list of things I would do if I owned a flour company :

1) Create a home baking series that focuses on tasty recipes.

2) Find influencers to do a weekly “what’s in my kitchen” campaign.

3) Partner with a local bread bakery to provide fresh bread to needing customers.

4) Run remarketing campaigns based on website traffic and social media interactions.

5) Create a weekly “how-to” show that explained baking best practices.

6) Showcase customer baked goods from different countries.

7) Find influencers who love to bake and partner with them.

8) Launch the ultimate baking resource website. Recipes, products, best practices, etc.

9) Spend a large amount of my marketing budget right now to push value and stories.

10) Create content with corporate staff, warehouse workers and delivery teams.

11) Show the entire process from ingredients to store delivery.

12) Create contests around nominating deserving individuals who need support.

13) Launch a Podcast interviewing home chefs. Share stories from parents who love to bake.

14) Design SWAG around baking statements, utensils and finished baked goods.

15) Random acts of kindness. ie: drop off skids of flour, loaves of bread, etc.

16) Launch the “Can You Smell It?” campaign that shows reactions of baking coming out of the oven.

17) Search hashtags around baking and comment on every post to create a deeper brand connection.

18) Start building out local baking event plans (when social distancing rules relax).
